A personalized approach to mentoring
This training helps you move from directing learning to thoughtfully guiding it, encouraging reflection and ownerhip. You’ll learn how to recognize each student’s strengths, interests, and motivations, and how to use them to inspire meaningful learning and a lifelong love of learning.
Learner as driver
We support each student’s individual interests, needs, pace, and learning styles. When the student is at the center, the learner is the curriculum.
Mentor as guide
The mentor walks alongside the learner, listening, asking thoughtful questions, co-creating learning pathways and adapting strategies to the learner’s interests.
Curiosity as compass
Learners explore their interests and pursue their goals, turning curiosity into meaningful knowledge and skills. When students are engaged their learning is real and long-lasting.
Reflection as process
Students reflect on their learning process, they understand their needs and own their progress, building self-awareness, adaptability, and readiness for life beyond school.
Growth as outcome
Our educational approach nurtures confidence, autonomy and resilience while developing critical thinking, effective communication and collaboration skills.
Why personalized learning?
Our work is based on education and psychology research, along with various proven pedagogical approaches that place the child at the center of the learning process.
These approaches see learning and development as interconnected, recognizing that the child’s needs, interests, and abilities are valuable sources of information to guide their growth.
One important foundational theory is brain-based education – an approach grounded in the science of how the human brain learns naturally. It aligns instructional strategies with student’s cognitive, emotional and developmental needs at different stages of growth to support learning.
In a traditional school setting, brain-based strategies can help educators to integrate movement, project-based learning, and other forms of personalization into the curriculum.
At Clonlara, this affirms what we have been doing for more than 50 years: putting students at the center of the learning process and allowing their interests to guide their educational experience.
“It’s truly astonishing that the dominant model for formal learning is still ‘sit and get.’ It’s not just astonishing; it’s embarrassing.”
― Eric Jensen, Teaching with the Brain in Mind, 2nd Edition
