A school must empower learners to participate purposefully and eagerly in their own education. Experience tells us that children learn best when their interests guide their activities and discoveries, and that parents have the right and ability to educate their children. We believe that learning begins with curiosity.
Clonlara sees the world as a boundless classroom and considers the learning environment integral to the learning process. Academic teaching and mastery of skills are not limited to a space or location. At home, at school, and beyond, there is fertile ground for learning.
We believe that a school should allow students to participate in the design and implementation of their curriculum. When students’ personal interests drive their educational activities, their motivation grows, and their learning is deeper and longer lasting. Every aspect of a student’s development deserves attention: physical, spiritual, mental, and psychological.
Our approach to education leads to a lifelong love of learning.
Clonlara’s global learning community includes students of all backgrounds and experiences. They learn to make and carry out an educational plan independently, with guidance from our teachers and advisors as well as their families and mentors, and they benefit from the varied experiences and active learning opportunities they have with Clonlara.
Our elementary and middle school students are curious learners, eager to ask questions and explore the world around them through play and projects. Our high school students are both college and non-college bound, motivated to design their own educational path, and interested in self-paced learning opportunities.
Some Clonlara students want the flexibility to pursue their passion for a specific subject, the performing arts, music, or sports, while others have unique needs arising from health-related circumstances, including issues that prevent them from attending school full time. Our graduates have been accepted to many prestigious colleges and universities, technical and vocational programs, and a wide variety of employers.

Clonlara offers three programs so that families can choose the option that is right for them: Campus, Off-Campus, and Online. We also provide services in multiple languages, including English, French, German, Hungarian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Whether on our campus, at home, or anywhere around the world, learning at Clonlara is personalized, and it begins with the student. Our Campus Program teachers and Off-Campus and Online Program advisors meet with students and their families to discover their strengths and interests, then help them plan their learning using our Full Circle Learning process. With a plan in place, students direct their own learning with support from teachers and mentors, working together to create authentic, relevant, personally challenging learning experiences. Clonlara’s Full Circle Learning is a research-supported model that encourages students to formulate questions about subjects that capture their attention. It then leads them through components of learning which serve to deepen their understanding, to compile their experience, to share it with others, and, finally, to reflect on the whole process, including content and approach. Full Circle Learning allows for critical thinking and problem solving. It is a tangible framework that empowers each learner to take charge of and personalize their own education.
To learn how this process is applicable at all age levels and for all students, regardless of learning style and differences, read more about Full Circle Learning.
Our Campus Program teachers and Off-Campus and Online Program advisors subscribe to the best progressive educational practices. They are committed to building strong relationships with students and their families as well as to teaching and advising on subject matter. They believe that students learn more, retain what they learn longer, and are better able to put their learning to practical use when their individual interests and talents are central to the learning experience.
Our teachers and advisors are dedicated to helping each student achieve their full potential. They are committed lifelong learners who model self-directed inquiry by sharing their personal passions and projects with their students. They work collaboratively, exchanging ideas to so solve problems as a team and bring new innovations to our programming. Meet Clonlara’s dedicated team.
To receive Clonlara’s high school diploma, students are required to earn 22 credits in core academic subjects and electives. Additional requirements for graduation include volunteer service, a reading log of 16 books with comments, a graduation portfolio, and a capstone project in the student’s senior year.
The capstone is a culminating, self-designed project that challenges each student to explore their curiosities and interests in depth while utilizing their strengths and talents. The work can focus on a single subject or be across multiple subject areas. Read our complete graduation requirements (PDF).
Each Clonlara student receives private school records, a transcript documenting their unique learning journey, and an accredited high school diploma upon graduation that is accepted by colleges and universities around the world.
Because our personalized learning approach allows for flexibility and choice, our high school students design and follow much of their own path and take responsibility for meeting their educational goals. When they graduate, they maintain their innate curiosity and are self-confident about their learning.

Clonlara is a Microsoft-based school. Our tools are compatible with Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. While our applications work through most common browsers, there may be some variation depending on the operating systems such as Apple macOS, Microsoft Windows, Google’s Android OS, Linux Operating System, and Apple iOS. Linux, for example, requires more extensive information technology knowledge than other operating systems. Families should have a fast and reliable internet connection on a computer, and their devices should be compatible with Microsoft products.
