We are thrilled to announce our new school campus in Portugal. A vibrant space designed to foster learning, creativity, and personal growth will soon be welcoming students in Idanha-a-Nova!
Associação Clonlara Portugal has been working on the Idanha campus project since 2021, driven by our mission to provide personalized education to more students and our goal to ensure that each child receives the support and resources they need to thrive.
The new school in Idanha is part of Clonlara School, an international education organization based in Michigan in the United States. Clonlara School Idanha will initially open to students in grades 1 through 5, with plans to expand its services through grade 12 in the near future.
Our team is working closely with the Ministry of Education and other entities to be ready to receive our first students and families at our new campus as soon as possible. We aim to cultivate a nurturing environment where all students can explore their passions and reach their full potential.
Join us on this incredible journey as we pave the way for a brighter future in education. Together, we can empower the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and leaders!
We look forward to welcoming the first families of Clonlara School Idanha for the 2026–2027 school year!
We will initially open our doors to two student groups:
Each group will have a maximum of 15 students and will be supported by a teacher and an assistant teacher.
We will be operating in the former primary school building in Oledo, a space generously provided by the municipality of Idanha-a-Nova.
Situated in the heart of the village, this location offers a unique opportunity for intergenerational connection; many local residents were once students in this very building!
Small groups and a low student-teacher ratio allow each child to be seen, heard, and supported in their individual learning journey.

Playing, exploring, and moving are at the center of the childhood learning experience. That’s why, in our Youngers groups, learning happens through multisensory activities with frequent use of outdoor spaces.
The municipality of Idanha-a-Nova is located in the district of Castelo Branco, in a privileged location, halfway between Lisbon and Madrid.
Idanha-a-Nova is part of the Geopark Naturtejo of Meseta Meridional, a UNESCO World Geopark, integrating the International Parque of Tejo and classified as a City of Music, within the scope of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. It is the 1st Bioregion in Portugal, being part of the International Network of Bio-Regions.
It is a territory endowed with a unique beauty and a very significant historical and cultural municipal heritage.
At Clonlara School Idanha, we are more than just a team—we are a community of lifelong learners and educators. Every day, we learn from one another, grow together, and inspire the next generation to do the same.
Because education isn’t just about teaching—it’s about continuous learning, curiosity, and the joy of discovery.

Clonlara School is proud to be accredited by the following organizations: Accreditation International (Ai), Middle States Association of Colleges and School (MSA-CESS), and the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA).
The process of getting the operating license for the new Campus is running with Ministry of Education in Portugal.
Clonlara’s team is fully committed to this project.
Enrollments are related to the licensing process and can only start after the approval of the national authorities.
However, we are currently collecting names and contact information for interested families so that you can be the first to receive enrollment updates. If you’d like to join this list, please let us know at info.idanha@clonlara.org.

A school must empower learners to participate purposefully and eagerly in their own education. Experience tells us that children learn best when their interests guide their activities and discoveries, and that parents have the right and ability to educate their children. We believe that learning begins with curiosity.
Clonlara sees the world as a boundless classroom and considers the learning environment integral to the learning process. Academic teaching and mastery of skills are not limited to a space or location. At home, at school, and beyond, there is fertile ground for learning.
We believe that a school should allow students to participate in the design and implementation of their curriculum. When students’ personal interests drive their educational activities, their motivation grows, and their learning is deeper and longer lasting. Every aspect of a student’s development deserves attention: physical, spiritual, mental, and psychological.
Our approach to education leads to a lifelong love of learning.
The Clonlara team has been working to open a school in Portugal for some years now.
In January 2022, Associação Clonlara Portugal established a partnership with the municipality of Idanha-a-Nova for the new building. Since then, we have been working closely with the Ministry of Education and other entities to be ready to receive our first students and families at our new campus as soon as possible.
