Japanese Division
The Clonlara Japanese Division was born when Dr. Pat Montgomery was invited to address parents and educators in Tokyo and Sapporo in 1982 to talk about Alternative Education.
About three years later, the Japanese Division was created at Clonlara. For the past 15 years, we have been providing services to Japanese students who are seeking alternative ways in education. It is a rare and tremendous opportunity for those Japanese students to participate in a distance learning program to receive support from an American private school.
Our Japanese Division’s staff members are native Japanese speakers and have experience in a variety of different educational settings.
The services of the Japanese Division are carefully designed with respect to the Japanese educational system and culture. Additionally, the graduation requirements are appropriate and in accord with Japanese educational law.
The Clonlara School’s Distance Program is one of the few programs that allow Japanese students who learn in an alternative way to earn an American high school diploma. The Home Based Education Program enables Japanese students to make their learning experiences truly meaningful to maximize their potentials.

Please note that in 2001, Clonlara School established a policy of requiring all families residing in Japan to enroll and receive services through the Japanese Division. Families residing on U.S. military bases are exempt from this policy.
