TRANSFER STUDENTS Clonlara School accepts transfer credit from other accredited and/or incorporated schools. When students transfer into our High School program from a different school, we evaluate the transcript and help the student and family create a Progress to Graduation Report that outlines what the student has already accomplished and what remains to be done in order to meet our requirements and prepare for the student's next step in life. If the student is unsure of what s/he would like to do next, we encourage and help identify strengths and talents and develop career exploration strategies. Students who were not enrolled in school, but have already done work they feel is of high school caliber, may submit it to Clonlara School for a Portfolio Review. If Clonlara’s requirements have been met, the student will be granted high school credit. Clonlara School does not enroll students who have earned a diploma or finishing certificate from another secondary school. GRADUATION CEREMONY Clonlara holds a ceremony each year to honor its January and June graduates. For the past several years, this ceremony has taken place during the second weekend of June in Ann Arbor. The graduation ceremony is a special time when graduates, family and friends are welcome to share their experiences along the road to an education. Attendance at the ceremony is not mandatory and diplomas are mailed to all students who cannot attend. However, we encourage all families of graduating seniors to make the effort to attend the ceremony, if at all possible. Many students and their families like to share some brief thoughts about their high school years. There is rarely a dry eye in room after each graduate walks to the stage to receive their Clonlara School diploma jointly from the Executive Director and the key mentors during the student's high school years. COLLEGE & POST SECONDARY PLANNING Planning for College and other post-secondary experiences starts early for Clonlara learners. Students who have been with Clonlara in the elementary and middle school years have benefited from the many years of active learning and developing curiosities. Some students who have been in our elementary home based education program have already developed well-defined strengths, interests and passions. These students often spend their high school years refining and developing those skills and talents via specialized courses, internships, jobs, and other specialized instruction. We have many young musicians, dancers, skiers, artists, actors, and athletes. Other students use this time to explore a variety of interest via research and learning activities designed to help them identify their strengths and interests through:
Each year a significant number of Clonlara graduates matriculate to colleges and universities, trade schools and the business world. |
